How to change the front shock absorbers and springs on the RENAULT MASTER 2 Van [AUTODOC TUTORIAL]

All the parts you need to replace – Shock Absorber for MASTER II Box (FD) and other RENAULT models
Alternative products

Wire brush
WD-40 spray
All-purpose cleaning spray
Ceramic grease
Torque wrench
18 mm socket
21 mm socket
30 mm socket
24 mm wheel impact socket
Ratchet wrench or power tool for removal/installation of threaded fasteners
Tommy bar
Spring compressor
Transmission jack or a second vehicle jack
Car lift or jack with jack stands, and wheel chocks
Replacement: shock absorbers – Renault Master 2 van. Professionals recommend:
- Replace shock absorbers in pairs on an axle.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
- Please note: all work on the car – Renault Master 2 van – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out the replacement steps as follows:
- Step 1
If you are going to use a jack, secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel fasteners. Use a 24 mm wheel impact socket. Use a tommy bar. - Step 3
Raise the vehicle.Replacement: shock absorbers – Renault Master 2 van. AUTODOC recommends:If you are using a jack, make sure the car is parked on a hard, flat surface.Make sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands. - Step 4
Unscrew the wheel fasteners.Caution!To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the fasteners. - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Support the steering knuckle. Use a transmission jack or one more vehicle jack. - Step 7
Clean the fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 8
Loosen the fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a 30 mm socket. Use a tommy bar. - Step 9
Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 10
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a 21 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 11
Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use an 18 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 12
Remove the fastening bolts. - Step 13
Remove the shock absorber. - Step 14
Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 15
Install the new shock absorber.AUTODOC recommendation:Before installing the new shock absorber, make sure to prime it if the part manufacturer recommends doing so. Holding the part upright, compress it and let it extend on its own 3–5 times.
