Replacement: front lower arm – SKODA ROOMSTER (5J). AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: front lower arm – SKODA ROOMSTER (5J). Take the following steps:
- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. SKODA ROOMSTER (5J) - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Replacement: front lower arm – SKODA ROOMSTER (5J). Tip from AUTODOC:After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.Wear protective goggles. - Step 7
Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench. - Step 8
Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the suspension control arm. Use a drive socket #13. Use a tap wrench. - Step 9
Disconnect the spherical joint from the arm. - Step 10
Remove the front fastener of the control arm. Use a drive socket #18. - Step 11
Clean all joints of the arm. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 12
Remove the arm. Use a crowbar. - Step 13
Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 14
Install a new arm. Use a crowbar.Replacement: front lower arm – SKODA ROOMSTER (5J). AUTODOC experts recommend:During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover. - Step 15
Install the front fastener of the arm. Use a drive socket #18. - Step 16
Attach the ball joint to the control arm.
