Replacement: coil springs – RENAULT MASTER II Platform/Chassis (ED/HD/UD). AUTODOC recommends:
- Replace coil springs in pairs on an axle.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the right and left coil springs of the front suspension.
- All the work should be carried out with the ignition switched off.
Replacement: coil springs – RENAULT MASTER II Platform/Chassis (ED/HD/UD). Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1
If you are going to use a jack, secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel fasteners. Use a 24 mm wheel impact socket. Use a tommy bar. - Step 3Raise the vehicle.Warning!If you are using a jack, make sure the car is parked on a hard, flat surface.Make sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel fasteners.Replacement: coil springs – RENAULT MASTER II Platform/Chassis (ED/HD/UD). Tip:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the fasteners. - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Support the steering knuckle. Use a transmission jack or one more vehicle jack. - Step 7
Clean the fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 8
Loosen the fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a 30 mm socket. Use a tommy bar. - Step 9
Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 10
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a 21 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 11
Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use an 18 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 12
Remove the fastening bolts. - Step 13
Remove the shock absorber. - Step 14
Install the spring compressor on the spring.AUTODOC expert recommendation:Use jaws of the right size.Make sure that the spring coils are tightly secured in the jaws.Use a high-quality spring compressor. - Step 15
Compress the spring.Replacement: coil springs – RENAULT MASTER II Platform/Chassis (ED/HD/UD). Tip from AUTODOC:Be cautious! A compressed spring stores a large amount of energy and if the compressor slips off, the spring will expand and can cause severe injury or death. - Step 16
Lower the support by 10–15 cm.AUTODOC recommendation:Lower the transmission or vehicle jack smoothly without jerking it to avoid damaging the vehicle assemblies and mechanisms. - Step 17
Remove the spring together with the spring compressor.Replacement: coil springs – RENAULT MASTER II Platform/Chassis (ED/HD/UD). AUTODOC experts recommend:Do not perform any actions on the spring while it is compressed. - Step 18
Clean the mounting seats of the spring. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 19
Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 20
Release the spring. - Step 21
Install the spring compressor on the new spring.Warning!Install the compressor on the same coils of the new spring as it was installed on the old one. - Step 22
Compress the spring.Replacement: coil springs – RENAULT MASTER II Platform/Chassis (ED/HD/UD). Professionals recommend:Be cautious! A compressed spring stores a large amount of energy and if the compressor slips off, the spring will expand and can cause severe injury or death.
