How to change front springs / front coil springs on HONDA ACCORD 8 (CU2) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: coil springs – Honda Accord VIII CU. Tip from AUTODOC:
- Both coil springs of the front suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right coil springs of the front suspension.
- Please note: all work on the car – Honda Accord VIII CU – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1
Open the bonnet. - Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car. - Step 3
Clean the fasteners of the shock strut upper mount. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 4
Loosen the upper fastener of the shock strut mount. Use a drive socket #14. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 5
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 6
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. - Step 7
Raise the front of the car and secure on supports. - Step 8
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Honda Accord VIII CU - Step 9
Remove the wheel. - Step 10
Clean the shock strut fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 11
Unscrew the ABS cable holder. Use a drive socket #12. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 12
Unscrew the fastening bolt that connects the shock strut with the shock absorber fork. Use a drive socket #14. Use a tap wrench. - Step 13
Undo the fastener that connects the shock strut with the shock absorber fork. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer. - Step 14
Pull aside the shock strut from its mounting seat. - Step 15
Clean the fastening bolt that connects the shock absorber fork with the lower control arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 16
Unscrew the fastening bolt that connects the shock absorber fork with the lower control arm. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #17. Use a tap wrench. - Step 17
Remove the fastening bolt. Use a pin punch. Use a rubber mallet. - Step 18
Detach the shock absorber fork from the shock strut. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer. - Step 19
Unscrew the top fastening of the shock strut mount. Use a drive socket #14. Use a ratchet wrench.AUTODOC recommends:Honda Accord VIII CU – To avoid injury, hold the suspension strut while unscrewing the fastening bolts. - Step 20
Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack. - Step 21
Disconnect the brake hose mounting bracket. Use a drive socket #12. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 22
Remove the suspension strut. - Step 23
Set the shock absorber strut on the spring compressor tool.Replacement: coil springs – Honda Accord VIII CU. Tip from AUTODOC:Note that when using a spring compressor, spring coils need to be securely gripped, compressing the spring on the opposite sides.Ensure the correct position of the spring in the retainer.Make sure that the spring coils tightly entered the lock handles. - Step 24
Compress the spring. - Step 25
Remove the strut piston rod nut. Use a combination spanner #14. Use HEX No.H6. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 26
Remove the top strut mount. Use a crowbar. - Step 27
Release the coil spring. - Step 28
Remove the spring.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: coil springs – Honda Accord VIII CU. Carefully inspect the mount, the boot, and the bump stop of the shock absorber. Replace if necessary. - Step 29
Install the spring on the shock absorber. - Step 30
Compress the spring. - Step 31
Treat the fasteners of the shock strut mount. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 32
Install the upper strut mount and the strut mount bearing. - Step 33
Tighten the shock strut piston rod nut. Use a combination spanner #17. Use HEX No.H6. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 29 Nm torque.AUTODOC recommends:Check to make sure the spring is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment. - Step 34
Decompress the spring.
