Replacement: ball joint – VAUXHALL CORSA Mk I (B). AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right ball joints.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: ball joint – VAUXHALL CORSA Mk I (B). Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: ball joint – VAUXHALL CORSA Mk I (B). Tip:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the fastener that connects the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 7Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 8Remove the fastening bolt. Use a hammer.
- Step 9Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the suspension control arm. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 10Release the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
- Step 11Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint puller.
- Step 12Disconnect the spherical joint from the arm.Step 13Remove the ball joint.
- Step 14Remove the fastening bolts (2 pieces). Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 15Clean the ball joint mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 16Install the fastening bolts (2 pieces).
- Step 17Install a new ball joint.Replacement: ball joint – VAUXHALL CORSA Mk I (B). AUTODOC experts recommend:Do not damage the ball joint cover.
