Replacement: ball joint – PEUGEOT 307 (3A/C). AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right ball joints.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: ball joint – PEUGEOT 307 (3A/C). Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. PEUGEOT 307 (3A/C)
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the CV axle nut cotter pin. Use a wire brush.
- Step 7Remove the CV axle nut cotter pin. Use a pin punch.
- Step 8Clean the fastener of the driveshaft. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 9Loosen the fastener of the driveshaft. Use a drive socket #36. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 10Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 11Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the suspension control arm. Use a drive socket #21. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 12Disconnect the spherical joint from the arm. Use a ball joint puller.
- Step 13Prop up the steering knuckle. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 14Disconnect the spherical joint from the arm. Use a crowbar.
- Step 15Remove the support from under the steering knuckle.Replacement: ball joint – PEUGEOT 307 (3A/C). AUTODOC recommends:Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms.
- Step 16Remove the ball joint lock nut. Use a crowbar.
- Step 17Clean the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 18Unstake the ball joint. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
- Step 19Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #41. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 20Remove the ball joint.
- Step 21Clean the ball joint mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 22Install a new ball joint.Replacement: ball joint – PEUGEOT 307 (3A/C). Tip from AUTODOC:Do not damage the ball joint cover.
- Step 23Tighten the ball joint fastener. Use a drive socket #41. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 230 nm torque.
- Step 24Stake the ball joint. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
- Step 25Install the ball joint lock nut. Use a crowbar.
- Step 26Unscrew the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 27Prop up the steering knuckle. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.Step 28Remove the fastening bolts.
