- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right ball joints.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: ball joint – OPEL CORSA A Hatchback (93_, 94_, 98_, 99_). Use the following procedure:
- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: ball joint – OPEL CORSA A Hatchback (93_, 94_, 98_, 99_). Tip:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts. - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Clean the fastener that connects the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 7
Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 8
Remove the fastening bolt. Use a hammer. - Step 9
Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the suspension control arm. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 10
Release the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer. - Step 11
Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint puller. - Step 12Disconnect the spherical joint from the arm.Step 13
Remove the ball joint. - Step 14
Remove the fastening bolts (2 pieces). Use a flat screwdriver. - Step 15
Clean the ball joint mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 16
Install the fastening bolts (2 pieces). - Step 17
Install a new ball joint.Replacement: ball joint – OPEL CORSA A Hatchback (93_, 94_, 98_, 99_). AUTODOC experts recommend:Do not damage the ball joint cover.
