- Replace the oil filter every time when changing motor oil.
- Wear gloves to prevent contact with hot liquid.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: engine oil and filter – FIAT DUCATO Platform/Chassis (250). Take the following steps:
- Step 1Open the hood.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3Unscrew the oil filler plug.
- Step 4Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.Replacement: engine oil and filter – FIAT DUCATO Platform/Chassis (250). Tip from AUTODOC experts:The vehicle must be on even keel, and if it is at an angle, the drain plug must be at the lowest point.Step 5Undo the fasteners of the oil pan lower cover. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench. Use a Phillips screwdriver.Replacement: engine oil and filter – FIAT DUCATO Platform/Chassis (250). Tip from AUTODOC:To avoid injury, hold the engine skid plate cautiously tight when unscrewing the fasteners and when lowering the hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 6Support the engine skid plate. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 7Remove the oil pan cover. Remove the hydraulic transmission jack.Replacement: engine oil and filter – FIAT DUCATO Platform/Chassis (250). AUTODOC experts recommend:Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms.
- Step 8Unscrew the wheel arch cover fasteners. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
- Step 9Put a waste oil container with at least 5 l capacity under the drainage hole.
- Step 10Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 11Unscrew the drain plug. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 12Drain the used oil.Replacement: engine oil and filter – FIAT DUCATO Platform/Chassis (250). AUTODOC recommends:Caution! The oil may be hot.
- Step 13Prepare a container for the old oil filter.
- Step 14Unscrew the filter housing cap together with the old filter element.Step 15Put the old oil filter in the container.Replacement: engine oil and filter – FIAT DUCATO Platform/Chassis (250). Tip:Move up the container. The oil starts to drain out of the drainage hole immediately after you have removed the oil filter.
- Step 16Detach the oil filter from the filter cover.
- Step 17Remove the oil filter cover O-ring. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 18Clean the oil filter housing cap. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 19Install the new oil filter to the mounting seat on the filter cover.Please note!Make sure to install the filter correctly. Don't mix up the sides of the part.Wait until the oil has completely drained from the drainage hole.
- Step 20Install a new O-ring to its mounting seat on the filter cover.
- Step 21Lubricate the rubber seal of the new filter with a little amount of fresh oil.
- Step 22Screw the new filter into its place.
