AUTODOC recommends:
- Replace the oil filter every time when changing motor oil.
- Wear gloves to prevent contact with hot liquid.
- Use only new O-rings during installation.
- Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – AUDI A6 (4A, C4).
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the hood.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.AUTODOC recommends:The vehicle must be on even keel, and if it is at an angle, the drain plug must be at the lowest point.Step 4Unscrew the oil filler plug.
- Step 5Undo the fasteners of the oil pan lower cover.Step 6Put a waste oil container with at least 5 l capacity under the drainage hole.
- Step 7Unscrew the drain plug. Use a drive socket No.19 or ring spanner No.19.Step 8Drain the used oil.Replacement: engine oil and filter – AUDI A6 (4A, C4). AUTODOC recommends:Caution! The oil may be hot.Wait until the oil has completely drained from the drainage hole.Step 9Move the container under the oil filter.Step 10Unscrew the oil filter. Use the 65/67-14f socket.Please note!You might need other tools.
- Step 11Prepare a container for the old oil filter.
- Step 12Remove the oil filter. Put the old oil filter in the container.Replacement: engine oil and filter – AUDI A6 (4A, C4). Tip from AUTODOC experts:Move up the container. The oil starts to drain out of the drainage hole immediately after you have removed the oil filter.
- Step 13Clean the oil filter seat.
- Step 14Lubricate the rubber seal of the new filter with a little amount of fresh oil.
- Step 15Screw the new filter into its place. Tighten it to 20 nm torque. Use a torque wrench. Use the 65/67-14f socket.Please note!You might need other tools.
