How to change oil filter and engine oil on AUDI A6 C5 Avant [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: engine oil and filter – Audi A6 C5 Avant. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- Replace the oil filter every time when changing motor oil.
- Wear gloves to prevent contact with hot liquid.
- Please note: all work on the car – Audi A6 C5 Avant – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the hood.
- Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
- Step 3Unscrew the oil filler plug.
- Step 4Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.Replacement: engine oil and filter – Audi A6 C5 Avant. Tip from AUTODOC experts:The vehicle must be on even keel, and if it is at an angle, the drain plug must be at the lowest point.All works should be done with the engine cooled down.
- Step 5Put a waste oil container with at least 7 l capacity under the drainage hole.
- Step 6Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole.Step 7Clean the oil filter. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: engine oil and filter – Audi A6 C5 Avant. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.Step 8Unscrew the drain plug. Use a combination spanner #19. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Drain the used oil.Replacement: engine oil and filter – Audi A6 C5 Avant. Tip from AUTODOC experts:Caution! The oil may be hot.
- Step 10Unscrew the oil filter. Use the 86-15F socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 11Remove the oil filter.Replacement: engine oil and filter – Audi A6 C5 Avant. Tip from AUTODOC:Move up the container. The oil starts to drain out of the drainage hole immediately after you have removed the oil filter.
- Step 12Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole.
- Step 13Screw in the new oil drain plug.
- Step 14Clean the oil filter seat. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 15Lubricate the rubber seal of the new filter with a little amount of fresh oil.
- Step 16Install a new oil filter.Please note!Make sure to install the filter correctly. Don't mix up the sides of the part.
- Step 17Tighten the oil filter. Remember to observe the recommended tightening torque. Use the 93-15F socket. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 Nm torque.Replacement: engine oil and filter – Audi A6 C5 Avant. Professionals recommend:Wait until the oil has completely drained from the drainage hole.
- Step 18Tighten the oil drain plug. Use a drive socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 30 nm torque.
