Thoroughly inspect the ignition distributor assembly. Replace any worn parts.
Please note: all work on the car – VW TRANSPORTER IV Bus (70XB, 70XC, 7DB, 7DW) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
Step 1
Open the hood.
Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 3
Make marks on the distributor cap to indicate the installation order of the spark plug wires.
Step 4
Disconnect the spark plug wires from the distributor cap.

Be careful to avoid damaging spark plug wires.
Step 5
Release the distributor cap clips. Use a crowbar.
Step 6
Remove the distributor cap.

Step 7
Remove the ignition distributor rotor.

Do not apply excessive force when removing the part. Otherwise you may damage it.
Step 8
Install a new ignition distributor rotor.

When installing, do not use excessive force to avoid damage to the part.
Step 9
Install the distributor cap.
AUTODOC recommends:
When installing, do not use excessive force to avoid damage to the part.
Step 10
Fasten the distributor cap clips.
Step 11
Treat the spark plug wire connectors.
Use dielectric grease.
Step 12
Connect the spark plug wires to the distributor cap.

Follow the installation sequence.
Step 13
Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.
