Replacement: brake drum – FIAT PUNTO Convertible (176C). AUTODOC recommends:
- Replace the brake drums on FIAT PUNTO Convertible (176C) in pair for the rear axle. Disregarding the parts state. It ensures even braking.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the right and left brake drums on the same axle.
- When replacing the brake drums, be sure to also change the brake shoes.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: brake drum – FIAT PUNTO Convertible (176C). Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Open the hood. Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.Step 2Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 3Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 4Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 5Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. FIAT PUNTO Convertible (176C)
- Step 6Remove the wheel.
- Step 7Clean the brake drum fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 8Unscrew the brake drum fastening. Use a drive socket #12. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Remove the protective cover of the lower centre console. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 10Unscrew the front fasteners of the lower centre console. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 11Remove the lower centre console.
- Step 12Loosen the parking brake cable. Use a combination spanner #10.
- Step 13Remove the brake drum.
- Step 14Clean the hub. Use a wire brush. Treat the contacting surface. Use copper grease.
- Step 15Install a brake drum.
- Step 16Adjust the parking brake cable tension. Use a combination spanner #10.
- Step 17Remove the brake drum.
- Step 18Move the parking brake shoes against the drum. Use a flat screwdriver.
