A knocking sound on starting of the engine first thing in mornings for a few seconds also while idling it miss fires for a few seconds [ that doesn’t happen too often but once in every 5 minutes ] can any say what can be the cause of this

Alternatively it could be the hydro-compensators knocking, it might be worth checking the condition of the engine oil or replacing it with new.

  Good evening the oil should be ok its been getting a service done every year by Audi and am only driving about 3 to 4 thousand miles a year the car is park most of the time.

  In this case it is probably normal and no need to worry, and it all happens because the car has been idle for a long time before starting.
