RIDEX Tailgate Struts reviews

Excellent gas strut, but far too powerful for my vehicle. Despite using the chassis number and carefully cross referencing the stated compatibility, these struts seem to be far too powerful. Without excessive control of the boot lid opening speed, the tailgate files up to the full extension of the gas strut, at which point its momentum is transferred into the plastic ball mounting causing it to shatter and detach, leaving the user to catch the falling tailgate - not good.

I bought both the right and left struts, delivery took only 3 days and they arrived together (one has the inner bit black and the other metal, which I don't mind). They fit perfectly and can hold the boot door (finally!) Despite not having instructions, we managed to dismantle the inside of the door ourselves to access the screws, and saved an important amount of money :) Fast replies from customer service too, thanks.

Fits my K11 Micra 1.3i. Easy to install. Pull out old strutt and click into place new one, that's it. They are sold singly, so make sure you order two if you want the pair. didnt realise, and so I'm ordering my second now, meaning I'm paying postage and packing twice

Ultra violent. Boot dangerously slams open every time. Because of this, the struts broke themselves in a few months, and then the boot fell, and the struts got squeezed between the boot lid and the stoplights, breaking one. Absolutely do not buy!!

im not to happy about the fitment these had on the "balls" it attaches to. The OEM gas spring fit snug and didnt have any play. These ones i bought have a lot of play in them on both sides, wich makes my tailgate slam alot when i open it :(

They are a little rough when fully opening like they had a little more force than it should. But I guess it can have to do with the fact they are new. Otherwise pretty good, great price and super fast delivery

They will do the job but the “spring” clips on the mount are not so good quality and they keep unattached while opening the tailgate. After a while the clips broke and I had to change the mountings.

Good quality however too strong when opening. No of instructions on how to get it gentler but firm. Double check if the newton meter force before buying as there are other ones softer.

Yes they do work, however being 195mm they are shorter than oem and dont allow for tailgate to open fully. It stays partially closed so You have to load stuff in boot half crouching.

Bought a week ago, delivered very quick but too long for my car. On description says that fits on my car. Cannot return because I throw in the bin the original package
