Replacement: spark plugs – VOLVO V70 I (LV). AUTODOC recommends:
- The replacement procedure is the same for all spark plugs.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: spark plugs – VOLVO V70 I (LV). Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Open the hood.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3
Unscrew the engine cover fastener. Use Torx T20. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 4
Remove the engine cover.Replacement: spark plugs – VOLVO V70 I (LV). Tip:Raise the engine cover, holding it on two sides simultaneously. - Step 5
Unplug the connectors from the ignition coils. - Step 6
Disconnect the air intake pipe fastening. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 7
Detach the air intake hose clamp. Use a drive socket #7. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 8
Remove the air intake pipe. - Step 9
Cover the air intake hose with a microfibre towel to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the system. - Step 10
Unscrew the ignition coil bracket. Use a drive socket #10. - Step 11
Take out the ignition coil from the spark plug well.Replacement: spark plugs – VOLVO V70 I (LV). AUTODOC experts recommend:Remember the sequence of steps for ignition coil demounting. - Step 12
Clean dirt, dust and debris from inside the spark plug wells. - Step 13
Unscrew the spark plugs. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 14
Take out the spark plugs. - Step 15
Apply a thin layer of a special high temperature anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new spark plugs. Treat the surface of the terminals of the new spark plugs. Use high-temperature grease. - Step 16
Install the new spark plugs into their mounting seats. - Step 17
Screw new spark plugs and tighten them. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 27 nm torque.Replacement: spark plugs – VOLVO V70 I (LV). Tip from AUTODOC experts:Don't tighten the plugs with excessive force. Exceeding tightening torque can damage the thread connection. Be careful when working with a spark plug wrench. Its skewing can cause damage to the threaded connection. - Step 18
Treat the ignition coil tips. Use high-temperature grease. Use a flat screwdriver. - Step 19
Install the ignition coils to the spark plug wells. Make sure you hear a click indicating that it is locked in place.Replacement: spark plugs – VOLVO V70 I (LV). Tip from AUTODOC:Follow the installation sequence.
