Replacement: spark plugs – SEAT TOLEDO III (5P2). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
- The replacement procedure is the same for all spark plugs.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: spark plugs – SEAT TOLEDO III (5P2). Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3On the right side, detach the PCV valve hose from the engine cover.
- Step 4Remove the engine cover assembled with the air filter housing.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: spark plugs – SEAT TOLEDO III (5P2). Do not use excessive force when removing the part as this may damage it.
- Step 5Cover the throttle body with a microfibre towel to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the system.
- Step 6Unscrew the oil filler neck.
- Step 7Remove the oil filler neck.
- Step 8Cover the oil filler opening with a microfibre towel to prevent dirt and foreign objects from getting into the system.
- Step 9Undo the plastic locking tabs of the ignition coil connector. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 10Unscrew the fastener of the chassis (ground) terminal of the ignition coils. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 11Take out the ignition coil from the spark plug well. Use a crowbar.Replacement: spark plugs – SEAT TOLEDO III (5P2). Tip from AUTODOC:Remember the sequence of steps for ignition coil demounting.
- Step 12Unplug the connectors from the ignition coils.
- Step 13Clean dirt, dust and debris from inside the spark plug wells.
- Step 14Unscrew the spark plugs. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 15Take out the spark plugs. Use the spark plug socket #16.
- Step 16Apply a thin layer of special grease on the thread surface of new spark plugs. Use copper grease.
- Step 17Install the new spark plugs into their mounting seats. Use the spark plug socket #16.
- Step 18Screw new spark plugs and tighten them. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 nm torque.Replacement: spark plugs – SEAT TOLEDO III (5P2). AUTODOC experts recommend:Don't tighten the plugs with excessive force. Exceeding tightening torque can damage the thread connection. Be careful when working with a spark plug wrench. Its skewing can cause damage to the threaded connection.
- Step 19Treat the ignition coil connector with electronic spray. The spray will protect the electrical contacts from corrosion, oxidation, and will reduce the contact resistance.
