The replacement procedure is the same for all spark plugs.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: spark plugs – OPEL OMEGA A Estate (66_, 67_). Recommended sequence of steps:

Step 1

Open the hood.

Step 2

Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.

Step 3

Undo the engine cover screws. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 4

Remove the engine cover.
Step 5

Detach the connector from the ignition coil. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 6

Unscrew the ignition coil bracket. Use Torx T40. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 7

Take out the ignition coil from the spark plug well. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 8

Clean dirt, dust and debris from inside the spark plug wells.
Step 9

Unscrew the spark plugs. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.

Replacement: spark plugs – OPEL OMEGA A Estate (66_, 67_). Tip:
Make sure that the threaded part of the spark plug and the electrodes are clean and dry.
Step 10

Take out the spark plugs.
Step 11

Apply a thin layer of a special high temperature anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new spark plugs.
Step 12

Install the new spark plugs into their mounting seats.

Step 13

Screw new spark plugs and tighten them. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 24 nm torque.

Replacement: spark plugs – OPEL OMEGA A Estate (66_, 67_). Tip from AUTODOC:
Don't tighten the plugs with excessive force. Exceeding tightening torque can damage the thread connection. Be careful when working with a spark plug wrench. Its skewing can cause damage to the threaded connection.
Step 14

Install the ignition coil to the spark plug well. Make sure you hear a click indicating that it is locked in place.
Step 15

Tighten the ignition coil fastening. Use Torx T40. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 12 nm torque.
Step 16

Treat the ignition coil connector with electronic spray. The spray will protect the electrical contacts from corrosion, oxidation, and will reduce the contact resistance.

Step 17

Plug in the ignition coil connector.
Step 18

Install the engine cover and secure it. Use a flat screwdriver.

Replacement: spark plugs – OPEL OMEGA A Estate (66_, 67_). AUTODOC experts recommend:
Make sure the engine cover is properly seated. It should not be displaced with respect to the guiding fasteners and the throttle body air intake hose.
Step 19

Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.

Step 20

Shut off the engine.

Step 21

Remove the fender protection cover.

Step 22

Close the hood.
