How to change serpentine belt on MERCEDES-BENZ W211 E-Class [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]
All the parts you need to replace – Poly V-Belt for E-Class Saloon (W211) and other MERCEDES-BENZ models
Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – Mercedes W211
Carry out replacement in the following order:
Step 1
Open the bonnet.
Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 3
Unscrew the engine cover fastener. Use Torx T25. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 4
Unscrew the fasteners of the back section of the engine cover. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 5
Remove the back section of the engine cover.
Replacement: serpentine belt – Mercedes W211. Professionals recommend:
Do not apply excessive force when removing the part. Otherwise you may damage it.
Step 6
Remove the engine cover.
AUTODOC recommends:
Raise the engine cover, holding it on two sides simultaneously.Replacement: serpentine belt – Mercedes W211. Do not use excessive force when removing the part as this may damage it.
Step 7
Pull aside the V-ribbed belt tensioner pulley. Use Torx T55. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 8
Remove the V-ribbed belt.
AUTODOC recommends:
Check the condition of the tensioner pulley and idler pulley. Replace them if necessary.
Step 9
Return the tensioner pulley to its initial position.
Step 10
Install the V-ribbed belt.
Step 11
Pull aside the V-ribbed belt tensioner pulley. Use Torx T55. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 12
Place the V-ribbed belt on the tensioner pulley.
Replacement: serpentine belt – Mercedes W211. Tip from AUTODOC:
Make sure that the V-ribbed belt fits all pulleys snugly.
Step 13
Return the tensioner pulley to its initial position. Use Torx T55. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 14
Install the engine cover and secure it.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: serpentine belt – Mercedes W211. Do not use excessive force during installation. This may damage the part.
Step 15
Screw in the engine cover fasteners. Use Torx T25. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 16
Put the back section of the engine cover back in place.
Replacement: serpentine belt – Mercedes W211. AUTODOC experts recommend:
When installing, do not use excessive force to avoid damage to the part.
Step 17
Screw in the fasteners of the back section of the engine cover. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 18
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 19
Close the hood.
