Replacement: serpentine belt – BMW E39 touring. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: serpentine belt – BMW E39 touring. Take the following steps:
- Step 1
Open the bonnet. - Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car. - Step 3
Remove the fan shroud clips. Use a clip removal tool. - Step 4
Unscrew the cooling fan fastener. Use a combination spanner #32 (2 pieces). - Step 5
Remove the fan shroud. Remove the cooling fan. - Step 6
Pull aside the V belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #16. - Step 7
Remove the V belt.Replacement: serpentine belt – BMW E39 touring. AUTODOC recommends:Check the condition of the tensioner pulley and idler pulley. Replace them if necessary. - Step 8
Return the tensioner pulley to its initial position. - Step 9
Pull aside the V-ribbed belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #24. - Step 10
Remove the V-ribbed belt.Replacement: serpentine belt – BMW E39 touring. Tip from AUTODOC experts:Check the condition of the tensioner pulley and idler pulley. Replace them if necessary. - Step 11Return the tensioner pulley to its initial position.Step 12
Pull aside the V-ribbed belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #24. - Step 13
Install the V-ribbed belt.Replacement: serpentine belt – BMW E39 touring. AUTODOC experts recommend:Make sure that the V-ribbed belt fits all pulleys snugly. - Step 14
Return the tensioner pulley to its initial position.
