Replacement: serpentine belt – AUDI A6 (4A, C4). AUTODOC recommends:
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: serpentine belt – AUDI A6 (4A, C4). Use the following procedure:
Step 1
Open the hood.
Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 3
Unscrew the fasteners of the air distribution housing assembly. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 4
Remove the air distribution housing assembly.
Step 5
Unscrew the engine cover fastener. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 6
Remove the engine cover.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: serpentine belt – AUDI A6 (4A, C4). Do not use excessive force when removing the part as this may damage it.
Step 7
Pull aside the V-ribbed belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #17.
Step 8
Remove the V-ribbed belt.
Replacement: serpentine belt – AUDI A6 (4A, C4). Tip from AUTODOC:
Check the condition of the tensioner pulley and idler pulley. Replace them if necessary.
Step 9
Return the tensioner pulley to its initial position.
Step 10
Install the V-ribbed belt.
Step 11
Pull aside the V-ribbed belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #17.
Step 12
Place the serpentine belt on the crankshaft pulley.
Replacement: serpentine belt – AUDI A6 (4A, C4). Tip:
Make sure that the V-ribbed belt fits all pulleys snugly. Make sure that the V-ribbed belt is properly tensioned.
Step 13
Return the tensioner pulley to its initial position. Use a combination spanner #17.
Step 14
Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.
Step 15
Shut off the engine.
Step 16
Reinstall the air distribution housing assembly.
Step 17
Screw in the fasteners of the air distribution housing assembly. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 18
Install the engine cover and secure it.
AUTODOC recommends:
Make sure the engine cover is properly seated. It should not be displaced with respect to the guiding fasteners.Replacement: serpentine belt – AUDI A6 (4A, C4). Do not use excessive force during installation. This may damage the part.
Step 19
Screw in the engine cover fasteners. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 20
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 21
Close the hood.
