How to change serpentine belt on AUDI A4 B5 Saloon [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]
All the parts you need to replace – Poly V-Belt for A4 Saloon (8D2, B5) and other AUDI models
Replacement: serpentine belt – Audi A4 B5 saloon. Recommended sequence of steps:
Step 1
Open the hood.
Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 3
Unscrew the engine cover fastener. Use HEX No.H5. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 4
Remove the engine cover.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: serpentine belt – Audi A4 B5 saloon. Do not use excessive force when removing the part as this may damage it.
Step 5
Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.
Step 6
Loosen the fastener of the AC compressor belt tensioner pulley. Use HEX No.H7. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 7
Remove the V belt.
Replacement: serpentine belt – Audi A4 B5 saloon. Professionals recommend:
Check the condition of the tensioner pulley and idler pulley. Replace them if necessary.
Step 8
Pull aside the V-ribbed belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #17.
Step 9
Remove the V-ribbed belt.
Replacement: serpentine belt – Audi A4 B5 saloon. Tip:
Check the condition of the tensioner pulley and idler pulley. Replace them if necessary.
Step 10
Return the tensioner pulley to its initial position.
Step 11
Install the V-ribbed belt.
Step 12
Pull aside the V-ribbed belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #17.
Step 13
Place the serpentine belt on the crankshaft pulley.
Replacement: serpentine belt – Audi A4 B5 saloon. AUTODOC recommends:
Make sure that the V-ribbed belt fits all pulleys snugly. Make sure that the V-ribbed belt is properly tensioned.
Step 14
Install the V belt.
Step 15
Screw in the fastener of the AC compressor belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #17. Use HEX No.H7. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 16
Lower the car.
Step 17
Return the tensioner pulley to its initial position. Use a combination spanner #17.
Step 18
Install the engine cover and secure it.
Replacement: serpentine belt – Audi A4 B5 saloon. Tip from AUTODOC:
Make sure the engine cover is properly seated. It should not be displaced with respect to the guiding fasteners.When installing, do not use excessive force to avoid damage to the part.
Step 19
Screw in the engine cover fasteners. Use HEX No.H5. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 20
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 21
Close the hood.
