Replacement: wheel bearing – PORSCHE 924. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your PORSCHE 924 car.
- The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
- Please note: all work on the car – PORSCHE 924 – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. PORSCHE 924
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Remove the wheel hub nut cap. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer.
- Step 7Remove the cotter pin securing the hub nut. Use a crowbar. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 8Unscrew the hub nut. Use a drive socket #30. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Remove the brake drum assembled with the wheel hub bearing.Replacement: wheel bearing – PORSCHE 924. Tip:Examine the brake drum. Replace it if necessary.
- Step 10Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.Step 11Remove the wheel hub bearing retaining ring. Use a crowbar.
- Step 12Remove the hub bearing mounting. Use a crowbar.
- Step 13Remove the hub bearing mounting. Use a crowbar.
- Step 14Clean the hub bearing mounting seat.
- Step 15Remove the inner race of the wheel bearing from the brake drum. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
- Step 16Remove the inner race of the wheel bearing from the brake drum. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
- Step 17Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 18Install the new inner race of the wheel bearing into the brake drum. Use a bush and bearing driver set. Use a hammer.
- Step 19Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 20Install the new inner race of the wheel bearing into the brake drum. Use a bush and bearing driver set. Use a hammer.
