AUTODOC recommends:
- Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your AUDI A6 (4B2, C5) car.
- The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
- Please note: all work on the car – AUDI A6 (4B2, C5) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. AUDI A6 (4B2, C5)
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 7Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a combination spanner #15. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 8Remove the brake caliper. Use a crowbar.Replacement: wheel bearing – AUDI A6 (4B2, C5). AUTODOC experts recommend:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
- Step 9Remove the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
- Step 10Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 11Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use HEX No.H8. Use a tap wrench. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 12Remove the caliper bracket.
- Step 13Remove the brake disc.
- Step 14Clean the ABS sensor fastener. Use a nylon cleaning brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 15Detach the ABS sensor fastener. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 16Disconnect the ABS sensor. Use pincers.
- Step 17Clean the wheel hub fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 18Unscrew the wheel hub bolts. Use HEX No.H8. Use an impact screwdriver. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 19Remove the hub and the bearing together, since they are a sealed unit.
- Step 20Remove the brake disc baffle plate.
- Step 21Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 22Treat the wheel hub fasteners. Use copper grease.
- Step 23Install the new wheel hub with a bearing.
