Replacement: strut mount – VW CC (358). AUTODOC recommends:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the mounts of the right and left shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
- Both mounts of the rear shock struts should be replaced simultaneously.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: strut mount – VW CC (358). Take the following steps:
- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW CC (358) - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack. - Step 7
Unscrew the fastener connecting the control arm to the rear knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 8
Lower the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.Replacement: strut mount – VW CC (358). Tip from AUTODOC experts:Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms. - Step 9
Remove the spring. - Step 10
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #21. Use a tap wrench. - Step 11
Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.Replacement: strut mount – VW CC (358). Tip:To avoid injuries, hold the shock absorber when undoing the fastening bolts. - Step 12
Remove the shock absorber. - Step 13
Grip the shock absorber in a vice. - Step 14
Clean the shock absorber rod fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 15
Remove the shock absorber piston rod fastening. Use a combination spanner #14. - Step 16
Remove the shock absorber mount, boot and bump stop. - Step 17
Install the new mount, boot, and bump stop on the shock absorber. - Step 18
Fix the shock absorber mount. Use a combination spanner #14. Use a drive socket #14. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 Nm torque. - Step 19
Release the vice and take out the shock absorber.
