Replacement: shock absorbers – VOLVO S60 I. Professionals recommend:
- Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: shock absorbers – VOLVO S60 I. Take the following steps:
- Step 1Open the boot lid.
- Step 2Move the folding shelf and detach it from the retainers. By doing this, you will get access to the side trim plastic panels.
- Step 3Raise the lower lining of the boot.
- Step 4Remove the boot front lower lining.
- Step 5Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 6Loosen the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #18. Use Torx T30. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 7Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 8Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
- Step 9Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 10Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: shock absorbers – VOLVO S60 I. AUTODOC recommends:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 11Remove the wheel.
- Step 12Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 13Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 14Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 15Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the shock absorber while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VOLVO S60 I
- Step 16Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 17Remove the shock absorber. Use a crowbar.Replacement: shock absorbers – VOLVO S60 I. Tip from AUTODOC experts:Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times.
- Step 18Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 19Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and fasten it.Replacement: shock absorbers – VOLVO S60 I. Tip from AUTODOC:To avoid injury, hold the shock absorber cautiously tight when screwing in the fastening bolts.
- Step 20Install the fastening bolt.
- Step 21Screw in the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18.
- Step 22Tighten the top shock absorber fastening. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use locking pliers. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 60 Nm torque.
