Replacement: shock absorbers – OPEL TIGRA TwinTop. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
- Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
- Please note: all work on the car – OPEL TIGRA TwinTop – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the boot lid.Step 2Move the folding shelf and detach it from the retainers. By doing this, you will get access to the side trim plastic panels.Step 3Remove the protective cap of the shock absorber mount.
- Step 4Clean the fasteners of the shock absorber upper mount. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 5Loosen the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #16. Use a shock absorber socket DD№6. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 6Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 7Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 8Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 9Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: shock absorbers – OPEL TIGRA TwinTop. AUTODOC recommends:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 10Remove the wheel.
- Step 11Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 12Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 13Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #E14.
- Step 14Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 15Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.AUTODOC recommends:OPEL TIGRA TwinTop – Do not lower the transmission jack sharply to avoid damaging components and mechanisms of the car.
- Step 16Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber.Replacement: shock absorbers – OPEL TIGRA TwinTop. Tip:To avoid injuries, hold the shock absorber when undoing the fastening bolts.
- Step 17Remove the shock absorber.Replacement: shock absorbers – OPEL TIGRA TwinTop. Tip from AUTODOC experts:Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times.
- Step 18Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 19Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and secure it.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the shock absorber while screwing in the fastening bolts. OPEL TIGRA TwinTop
- Step 20Screw the upper fastener of the shock absorber.
- Step 21Install the fastening bolt.
- Step 22Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
