How to change rear shock absorber on CITROEN C1 (PM, PN) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: shock absorbers – Citroen C1 1 PM PN. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
- Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – Citroen C1 1 PM PN.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1
Open the boot lid. - Step 2
Move the folding shelf and detach it from the retainers. By doing this, you will get access to the side trim plastic panels. - Step 3
Fold down the backrests of the rear seats. - Step 4
Remove the clips of the boot side lining. Use a clip removal tool. - Step 5
Unscrew the fastener of the boot side lining. Use a Phillips screwdriver. - Step 6
Detach the boot side lining. - Step 7
Remove the mount cap from the shock absorber upper fastener. - Step 8
Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #14 (2 pieces). Use a shock absorber socket DD#6. - Step 9
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 10
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 11
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports. - Step 12
Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: shock absorbers – Citroen C1 1 PM PN. AUTODOC recommends:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts. - Step 13
Remove the wheel. - Step 14
Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 15
Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack. - Step 16
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #14.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the shock absorber while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Citroen C1 1 PM PN - Step 17
Remove the fastening bolt. - Step 18Remove the shock absorber.Step 19
Remove the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop.Replacement: shock absorbers – Citroen C1 1 PM PN. Tip from AUTODOC:Examine the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop. Replace them if necessary. Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times. - Step 20
Install the dust sleeve and the bump stop on the new shock absorber. - Step 21
Treat the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 22
Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and secure it.Replacement: shock absorbers – Citroen C1 1 PM PN. Tip:To avoid injury, hold the shock absorber cautiously tight when screwing in the fastening bolts. - Step 23
Install the fastening bolt. - Step 24
Raise the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm. - Step 25
Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #14. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 48 Nm torque.
