Replacement: rear lower arm – MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS Convertible (A124). AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
- Please note: all work on the car – MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS Convertible (A124) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS Convertible (A124)
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 7Unscrew the fastener connecting the control arm to the rear knuckle. Use a combination spanner #17.
- Step 8Unscrew the rear fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use XZN #M10. Use a drive socket #19. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Remove the rear fastener of the control arm. Use a hammer.
- Step 10Detach the ABS sensor wiring from the suspension control arm.
- Step 11Remove the arm. Use a ball joint puller.
- Step 12Clean the fastener of the ABS sensor bracket. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 13Unscrew the bracket fastening to the arm. Use Torx T20. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 14Remove the bracket from the arm.Step 15Install the bracket onto the new arm.
- Step 16Tighten the bracket fastening to the arm. Use Torx T20. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 17Install a new suspension arm.
