How to change rear brake pads on LEXUS RX400h 2 (XU30) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. AUTODOC recommends:
- Perform the replacement of brake pads in complete set for each axis. This provides effective braking.
- The replacement procedure is identical for all brake pads on the same axle.
- Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – Lexus RX XU30.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the bonnet. Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.
- Step 2Press down the pop clips of the protective cover.
- Step 3Remove the protective cover. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 4Remove the engine cover. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 5Remove the fuse box cover.
- Step 6Detach the ABS relay.Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. Tip:Remove the part in strict adherence to the car wiring diagram.
- Step 7Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 8Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #21.
- Step 9Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
- Step 10Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Lexus RX XU30
- Step 11Remove the wheel.
- Step 12Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 13Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.Step 14Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a combination spanner #14.
- Step 15Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a brake cleaner.Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. AUTODOC experts recommend:After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
- Step 16Remove the brake caliper. Use a crowbar.Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. Tip from AUTODOC:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
- Step 17Remove the brake pads. Use a crowbar.Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. Tip from AUTODOC experts:Measure the brake disc thickness. Upon reaching the wear limit the part must be replaced.
- Step 18Clean the brake caliper bracket from dirt and dust. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
- Step 19Treat the brake pads in the area where their surface comes into contact with the brake caliper bracket. Use anti-squeal paste.Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. Tip:Make sure the disc surface is clean before installing the pads.
- Step 20Install new brake pads.Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. AUTODOC recommends:Make sure the pads are installed with linings facing the disc.
- Step 21Treat the brake caliper piston. Use a brake cleaner.Replacement: brake pads – Lexus RX XU30. Tip from AUTODOC:After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
