- Step 8Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a combination spanner #15. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.Step 10Remove the brake caliper. Use a crowbar.Replacement: brake discs – RENAULT MEGANE II Estate (KM0/1_). Professionals recommend:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.
- Step 11Treat the brake caliper piston. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 12Remove the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
- Step 13Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 14Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use a drive socket #E16. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 15Remove the caliper bracket.
- Step 16Clean the brake disk surface. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 17Pry up and remove the wheel hub cap. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer.AUTODOC recommends:Some cars are not equipped with wheel hub caps.
- Step 18Unscrew the wheel hub axle nut. Use a drive socket #30. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 19Remove the brake disc assemled with the wheel hub bearing.
- Step 20Clean the guiding part of the stub axle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 21Install the brake disc assembled with the wheel hub bearing.
- Step 22Tighten the hub. Use a drive socket #30. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 220 Nm torque.Replacement: brake discs – RENAULT MEGANE II Estate (KM0/1_). Tip:The wheel bearing unit must not tilt on the axle pin.
