Replacement: brake caliper – MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS Estate (S210). Tip from AUTODOC:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right brake calipers on the same axle.
- Please note: all work on the car – MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS Estate (S210) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the bonnet. Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.Step 2Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 3Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 4Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 5Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS Estate (S210)
- Step 6Remove the wheel.
- Step 7Remove the brake pads retaining clips. Use a pin punch. Use a hammer.
- Step 8Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
- Step 9Remove the brake pads. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 10Clamp the brake hose off using a brake hose clamp.
- Step 11Loosen the brake hose fastening. Use a flare nut spanner #14.
- Step 12Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 13Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 14Remove the fastening bolts (2 pieces).Step 15Remove the brake caliper.
- Step 16Disconnect the brake hose.
- Step 17Treat the brake hose. Use a brake cleaner.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: brake caliper – MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS Estate (S210). After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.Step 18Install and fix the brake hose into a new caliper.
- Step 19Remove the brake hose clamp.
- Step 20Install the brake caliper and fix it.
- Step 21Treat the fastening bolts. Use a sealant.
