Replacement: brake caliper – MERCEDES-BENZ CLK (C208). Tip from AUTODOC:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right brake calipers on the same axle.
- Please note: all work on the car – MERCEDES-BENZ CLK (C208) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the bonnet. Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.Step 2
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 3
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 4Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 5
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. MERCEDES-BENZ CLK (C208) - Step 6
Remove the wheel. - Step 7
Remove the brake pads retaining clips. Use a pin punch. Use a hammer. - Step 8
Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar. - Step 9
Remove the brake pads. Use a flat screwdriver. - Step 10
Clamp the brake hose off using a brake hose clamp. - Step 11
Loosen the brake hose fastening. Use a flare nut spanner #14. - Step 12Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 13
Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 14Remove the fastening bolts (2 pieces).Step 15
Remove the brake caliper. - Step 16
Disconnect the brake hose. - Step 17Treat the brake hose. Use a brake cleaner.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: brake caliper – MERCEDES-BENZ CLK (C208). After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.Step 18
Install and fix the brake hose into a new caliper. - Step 19
Remove the brake hose clamp. - Step 20
Install the brake caliper and fix it. - Step 21
Treat the fastening bolts. Use a sealant.
