Replacement: ABS sensor – BMW E39 touring. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: ABS sensor – BMW E39 touring. Take the following steps:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 3
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports. - Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. BMW E39 touring - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Unscrew and remove the wheel arch cover fasteners. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench. Use a clip removal tool. - Step 7
Remove the wheel arch cover. - Step 8
Detach the ABS sensor connector. - Step 9
Disconnect the ABS sensor wiring. - Step 10
Clean the ABS sensor fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 11
Unscrew the ABS sensor fastener. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 12
Disconnect the ABS sensor. Use water pump pliers. - Step 13
Clean the ABS sensor mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 14
Treat the ABS sensor fastener. Use a multipurpose grease. Use a crowbar. - Step 15
Connect the ABS sensor. - Step 16
Tighten the fastener connecting the ABS sensor to the stub axle. Use a drive socket #10. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 7 Nm torque.
