Replacement: ignition coil – MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS Estate (S124). Tip from AUTODOC:
- Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS Estate (S124).
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3Disconnect the earth cable terminal from the battery. Use a combination spanner #10.
- Step 4Unscrew the inlet pipe fasteners. Use a Phillips screwdriver. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 5Remove the fastening bolts.
- Step 6Remove the inlet pipe.
- Step 7Remove the ignition coil cover.
- Step 8Disconnect the high tension cable from the ignition coil.
- Step 9Unscrew the fasteners of the ignition coil terminals. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 10Disconnect the terminals from the ignition coil.
- Step 11Unscrew the ignition coil fasteners. Use a combination spanner #10.
- Step 12Remove the ignition coil.
- Step 13Install a new ignition coil.
- Step 14Screw in the ignition coil fasteners. Use a combination spanner #10.
- Step 15Connect the terminals to the ignition coil.
- Step 16Treat the ignition coil terminals. Use dielectric grease.
