Replacement: headlight bulbs – Mercedes W201. Professionals recommend:

All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: headlight bulbs – Mercedes W201. Take the following steps:

Step 1

Open the bonnet.
Step 2

Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 3

Remove the headlight rear cover.

Please note!
The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right headlight bulbs.
Step 4

Detach the fog light connector.
Step 5

Pull aside the retainer of the fog light bulb.
Step 6

Remove the fog light bulb.
Step 7

Detach the connector of the low and high beam bulb.
Step 8

Pull aside the retainer of the low and high beam bulb.
Step 9

Remove the low and high beam bulb.
Step 10

Detach the turn signal light bulb holder by turning it approx. 30°.
Step 11

Remove the turn signal light bulb.
Step 12

Treat the bulb connectors. Use dielectric grease.
Step 13

Install a new turn signal light bulb in the socket.
Step 14

Install the turn signal light bulb holder by turning it approx. 30°.
Step 15

Install a new low and high beam bulb.

Replacement: headlight bulbs – Mercedes W201. AUTODOC recommends:
Avoid touching the bulb glass. The finger marks left on it may cause failure.
Step 16

Fit the retainer of the low and high beam bulb.
Step 17

Attach the connector of the low and high beam bulb.
Step 18

Install a new fog light bulb.

AUTODOC recommends:
Avoid touching the bulb glass. The finger marks left on it may cause failure.
Step 19

Fit the retainer of the fog light bulb.
Step 20

Attach the fog light bulb connector.
Step 21

Install and secure the headlight rear cover.
Step 22

Remove the fender protection cover.

Step 23

Close the bonnet.
Step 24

Open the luggage compartment.
Step 25

Release the retainers of the cover which holds the bulbs by turning them approx. 90°.
Step 26

Remove the bulb holder together with the bulbs.
Step 27

Remove the old bulbs.
Step 28

Treat the bulb holder terminals on the cover. Use dielectric grease.
Step 29

Install the new bulbs in the holder on the cover.
Step 30

Install the bulb holder together with the bulbs.
Step 31

Lock the cover in place by turning the retainers approx. 90°.
Step 32

Close the luggage compartment.
Step 33

Switch on the lights to check that the new bulbs work.
