Replacement: glass for wing mirror – BMW E82. Professionals recommend:

The replacement procedure is identical for the right and left side mirror glass.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: glass for wing mirror – BMW E82. Recommended sequence of steps:

Step 1

Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 2

Tilt the mirror glass out of the housing.
Step 3

Carefully release the mirror glass from its attachment. Use a plastic trim tool.
Step 4

Remove the mirror glass.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: glass for wing mirror – BMW E82. Do not use excessive force when removing the part as this may damage it.
Step 5

Detach the mirror heating connectors.
Step 6

Attach the mirror heating connectors.
Step 7

Install the new mirror glass. Make sure you hear a click indicating that it is locked in place.

Replacement: glass for wing mirror – BMW E82. AUTODOC recommends:
Do not apply excessive force when installing the part. Otherwise you may damage the fasteners.Make sure the mirror glass is positioned correctly. It should be aligned with the locking tabs on the housing.
Step 8

Clean the mirror glass.

Step 9

Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 10

Switch on the ignition. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.

Step 11

Switch off the ignition.
