How to change fuel filter BMW X5 (E53) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: fuel filter – BMW X5 E53. Professionals recommend:
- Ensure adequate ventilation of the workplace. Fuel vapors are poisonous.
- Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – BMW X5 E53
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the fuel door.
- Step 2Unscrew the fuel filler cap.
- Step 3Lift the car and set it on jack stands.
- Step 4Support the underbody panel. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 5Unscrew fixing bolts of the protective cover. Use a drive socket #12.
- Step 6Unscrew the heat insulation fasteners. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 7Remove the protective cover. Use a crowbar.
- Step 8Lower the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: fuel filter – BMW X5 E53. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
- Step 9Loosen the fuel filter mounting. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
- Step 10Prepare a container for fluids.
- Step 11Treat the fasteners attaching the tubes to the fuel filter. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 12Loosen the fuel filter clamps. Use a drive socket #7. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 13Disconnect the fuel supply lines from the fuel filter. Use round-nose pliers.Replacement: fuel filter – BMW X5 E53. Tip:Be careful! Fuel may leak from the filter housing and hoses.
- Step 14Remove the fuel filter. Put the old filter cartridge in the container.
- Step 15Install a new fuel filter.AUTODOC recommends:Remember, it is important not to mix up the input and output of the filter. Arrows on the filter indicate the direction of fuel flow.During installation, take care to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the fuel filter housing.Attention! Use quality filters – BMW X5 E53.
- Step 16Tighten the fuel filter fasteners. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
