Replacement: wheel bearing – VW Jetta Mk7 Limousine (BU3). Tools you'll need:

                        Wire brush
                      
                        WD-40 spray
                      
                        Copper grease 
                      
                        Drive socket # 15 
                      
                        Drive socket # 21 
                      
                        12-point socket # 24
                      
                        XZN socket bit # 12 
                      
                        Torx bit T30
                      
                        Wheel impact socket #17
                      
                        Ratchet wrench
                      
                        Torque wrench
                      
                        Tap wrench
                      
                        Crow bar
                      
                        Rubber mallet
                      
                        Hydraulic transmission jack
                      
                        Wheel chock

Replacement: wheel bearing – VW Jetta Mk7 Limousine (BU3). AUTODOC experts recommend:

The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
Please note: all work on the car – VW Jetta Mk7 Limousine (BU3) – should be done with the engine switched off.

Carry out replacement in the following order:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 3

Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

Replacement: wheel bearing – VW Jetta Mk7 Limousine (BU3). AUTODOC recommends:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6

Remove the hub bearing protection cap.
Step 7

Install the wheel.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. VW Jetta Mk7 Limousine (BU3)
Step 8

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 9

Loosen the wheel hub bolt. Use drive 12-point socket #24. Use a tap wrench.
Step 10

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

Replacement: wheel bearing – VW Jetta Mk7 Limousine (BU3). Tip:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 11

Remove the wheel.
Step 12

Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
Step 13

Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench. Use a tap wrench.
Step 14

Remove the brake caliper together with its bracket.

Replacement: wheel bearing – VW Jetta Mk7 Limousine (BU3). Professionals recommend:
Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.
Step 15

Unscrew the brake disc fastening. Use Torx T30. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 16

Remove the brake disc.
Step 17

Unscrew the wheel hub axle nut. Use drive 12-point socket #24.
Step 18

Clean the hub. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 19

Remove the drive shaft from the wheel hub.

Replacement: wheel bearing – VW Jetta Mk7 Limousine (BU3). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Make sure that the drive shaft is not unloaded (when the car is jacked).
Step 20

Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the suspension control arm. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 21

Disconnect the lower arm from the steering knuckle. Use a crowbar.
Step 22

Prop up the steering knuckle. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 23

Unscrew the wheel hub axle nut. Use XZN #12. Use a ratchet wrench. Use a tap wrench.
Step 24

Remove the hub and the bearing together, since they are a sealed unit. Use a crowbar.

Replacement: wheel bearing – VW Jetta Mk7 Limousine (BU3). Tip from AUTODOC:
If necessary, use a rubber mallet.
Step 25

Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 26

Install the new wheel hub with a bearing.
Step 27

Tighten the hub. Use XZN #12. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 70 Nm torque.+90°

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.
Step 28

Clean the splines of the drive shaft CV joint. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 29

Mount the drive shaft into the wheel hub.
Step 30

Attach the ball joint to the control arm.
Step 31

Tighten the ball joint fastening nut. Use a drive socket #15. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 60 Nm torque.
Step 32

Apply some copper grease to the hub where it contacts the brake disk.
Step 33

Install and tighten the drive shaft bolt. Use drive 12-point socket #24.
Step 34

Install the brake disc.
Step 35

Tighten the brake disc fastening. Use Torx T30. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 4 Nm torque.
Step 36

Install the brake caliper together with its bracket.
Step 37

Tighten the brake caliper bracket. Use a drive socket #21. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 190 Nm torque.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.
Step 38

Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 39

Install the wheel.

AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. VW Jetta Mk7 Limousine (BU3)
Step 40

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 41

Lower the car.

Step 42

Tighten the bolt connecting the drive shaft to the wheel hub. Use drive 12-point socket #24. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 70 Nm torque.+90°

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.
Step 43

Tighten the wheel bolts using a criss-cross pattern. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 120 Nm torque.

Step 44

Remove the jacks and chocks.
