Replacement: suspension strut – PEUGEOT 307 CC (3B). Tip from AUTODOC:
- Both shock struts of the front suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock struts of the front suspension.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: suspension strut – PEUGEOT 307 CC (3B). Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3
Clean the fasteners of the wiper arms. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 4
Unscrew the fasteners of the windscreen wiper arms. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 5
Remove the wiper arms. Use a universal puller. - Step 6
Unscrew the fasteners of the brake fluid reservoir. Use Torx T20. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 7
Remove the clips of the plastic cowl grille. Use a clip removal tool. - Step 8
Unscrew the fasteners of the cowl grille. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 9
Raise up and remove the cowl grille. - Step 10
Clean the fasteners of the shock strut upper mount. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 11Switch on the ignition.Step 12
Set the windscreen wipers to the service position. - Step 13Switch off the ignition.Step 14
Loosen the upper fastener of the shock strut mount. Use HEX No.H7. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 15Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 16
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 17Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 18
Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: suspension strut – PEUGEOT 307 CC (3B). AUTODOC experts recommend:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts. - Step 19
Remove the wheel. - Step 20
Remove the ABS wiring harness bracket. - Step 21
Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 22
Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the shock strut. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 23Remove the stabilizer rod.Step 24
Clean the fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 25
Unscrew the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 26
Remove the fastening bolt. - Step 27
Prop up the steering knuckle. Use a hydraulic transmission jack. - Step 28
Remove the fastening bolt. Use a pin punch. Use a hammer. - Step 29
Disconnect the steering knuckle from the shock absorber strut. - Step 30
Unscrew the top fastening of the shock strut mount.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the suspension strut while unscrewing the fastening bolts. PEUGEOT 307 CC (3B) - Step 31
Remove the suspension strut. - Step 32
Set the shock absorber strut on the spring compressor tool.Replacement: suspension strut – PEUGEOT 307 CC (3B). AUTODOC experts recommend:Note that when using a spring compressor, spring coils need to be securely gripped, compressing the spring on the opposite sides.Ensure the correct position of the spring in the retainer.Make sure that the spring coils tightly entered the lock handles. - Step 33
Compress the spring. - Step 34
Treat the shock strut rod. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 35
Remove the strut piston rod nut. Use HEX No.H7. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 36
Remove the top strut mount. - Step 37
Release the coil spring. - Step 38
Remove the spring. - Step 39
Remove the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: suspension strut – PEUGEOT 307 CC (3B). Carefully inspect the mount, the boot, and the bump stop of the shock absorber. Replace if necessary. - Step 40
Remove the old shock absorber from the hydraulic coil spring compressor.Replacement: suspension strut – PEUGEOT 307 CC (3B). Tip:Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times. - Step 41
Install the new shock absorber on the hydraulic coil spring compressor. - Step 42
Install the dust sleeve and the bump stop on the new shock absorber. - Step 43
Install the spring on the shock absorber. - Step 44
Compress the spring. - Step 45
Install the upper strut mount and the strut mount bearing. - Step 46
Tighten the shock strut piston rod nut. Use a drive socket #18. Use HEX No.H7. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 69 Nm torque.Replacement: suspension strut – PEUGEOT 307 CC (3B). Tip from AUTODOC experts:Check to make sure the spring is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment. - Step 47
Treat the shock strut rod. Use copper grease. - Step 48
Decompress the spring. - Step 49
Remove the assembled shock strut.
