Both shock struts of the front suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock struts of the front suspension.
Please note: all work on the car – Nissan Micra K11 – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 3
Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Nissan Micra K11
Step 5
Remove the wheel.
Step 6
Take out the retainer clip and move the brake hose out of the bracket on the shock strut. Use pliers.
Step 7
Clean the fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 8
Unscrew the fasteners connecting the suspension strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9
Remove the fastening bolts (2 pieces).
Step 10
Disconnect the steering knuckle from the shock absorber strut. Use a crowbar.
Step 11
Lower the car.
Step 12
Open the bonnet.
Step 13
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 14
Clean the fasteners of the shock strut upper mount. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 15
Unscrew the upper fasteners of the shock strut (3 pieces). Use a drive socket #E12. Use a ratchet wrench.

Important! Hold the suspension strut while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Nissan Micra K11
Step 16
Remove the suspension strut.
Step 17
Set the shock absorber strut on the spring compressor tool.
Note that when using a spring compressor, spring coils need to be securely gripped, compressing the spring on the opposite sides.Ensure the correct position of the spring in the retainer.Make sure that the spring coils tightly entered the lock handles.
Step 18
Compress the spring.
Step 19
Clean the upper fastener of the suspension strut mount. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 20
Unscrew the top fastening of the shock strut mount. Use a combination spanner #14. Use an adjustable wrench.
Step 21
Remove the top strut mount.
Step 22
Release the coil spring.
Step 23
Remove the spring.
Step 24
Remove the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: suspension strut – Nissan Micra K11. Carefully inspect the mount, the boot, and the bump stop of the shock absorber. Replace if necessary.
Step 25
Remove the old shock absorber from the hydraulic coil spring compressor.
Replacement: suspension strut – Nissan Micra K11. Tip from AUTODOC:
Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times.
Step 26
Install the dust sleeve and the bump stop on the new shock absorber.
Step 27
Install the new shock absorber on the hydraulic coil spring compressor.
Step 28
Install the spring on the shock absorber.
Step 29
Compress the spring.
Step 30
Install the upper strut mount and the strut mount bearing.
Step 31
Tighten the upper fastener of the shock absorber strut mount. Use a combination spanner #14. Use an adjustable wrench. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 40 Nm torque.
Replacement: suspension strut – Nissan Micra K11. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Check to make sure the spring is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment.
Step 32
Treat the shock strut rod. Use copper grease.
Step 33
Decompress the spring.
Step 34
Remove the assembled shock strut.
Step 35
Install the shock strut into the wheel arch.
Step 36
Secure the upper fasteners of the shock strut (3 pieces).
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the suspension strut while screwing in the fastening bolts. Nissan Micra K11
Step 37
Tighten the upper fasteners of the shock strut (3 pieces). Use a drive socket #12. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 Nm torque.
Step 38
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 39
Close the hood.
Step 40
Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
Step 41
Treat the shock strut mounting seat on the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 42
Fix the shock absorber strut on the steering knuckle.
Step 43
Install the fastening bolts (2 pieces).
Step 44
Tighten the lower fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 115 Nm torque.
Step 45
Fasten the brake hose on the strut.
Step 46
Attach the brake hose retainer clip.
Step 47
Treat the shock strut fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 48
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 49
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: suspension strut – Nissan Micra K11. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 50
Install the wheel.
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. Nissan Micra K11
Step 51
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 52
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 110 Nm torque.
Step 53
Remove the jacks and chocks.
