Replacement: front lower arm – VAUXHALL INSIGNIA Mk I (A). AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: front lower arm – VAUXHALL INSIGNIA Mk I (A). Take the following steps:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VAUXHALL INSIGNIA Mk I (A)
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Treat all joints of the arm. Use WD-40 spray.Replacement: front lower arm – VAUXHALL INSIGNIA Mk I (A). Tip:After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.Wear protective goggles.
- Step 7Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 8Remove the fastening bolt. Use a hammer. Use a pin punch.
- Step 9Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use a drive socket #18. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 10Unscrew the rear arm fastener. Use a drive socket #18. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 11Release the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer. Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle.
- Step 12Remove the arm. Use a crowbar.
- Step 13Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 14Install a new arm.
- Step 15Connect the ball joint to the steering knuckle.Replacement: front lower arm – VAUXHALL INSIGNIA Mk I (A). AUTODOC recommends:During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover.
- Step 16Install the control arm fasteners. Do not tighten it.
