- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: front lower arm – HONDA JAZZ III (GE). Take the following steps:
- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. - Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: front lower arm – HONDA JAZZ III (GE). Tip:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts. - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Undo the fasteners of the oil pan lower cover. Use a Phillips screwdriver. - Step 7
Unscrew and remove the wheel arch cover fasteners. Use a clip removal tool. - Step 8
Remove the wheel arch cover. - Step 9
Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: front lower arm – HONDA JAZZ III (GE). After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.Wear protective goggles. - Step 10
Remove the cotter pin. Use round-nose pliers. - Step 11
Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #19. - Step 12
Disconnect the lower arm from the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint puller. - Step 13
Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Replacement: front lower arm – HONDA JAZZ III (GE). AUTODOC recommends:After applying the spray, wait a few minutes. - Step 14
Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use a drive socket #19. Use a tap wrench. - Step 15
Unscrew the rear fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a drive socket #19. Use a tap wrench. - Step 16
Remove the rear fastener of the control arm. Use a drive socket #19. - Step 17
Remove the front fastener of the control arm. Use a drive socket #19. - Step 18
Remove the arm. Use a crowbar. - Step 19
Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 20
Install a new arm. Use a crowbar.Replacement: front lower arm – HONDA JAZZ III (GE). Tip:During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover. - Step 21
Install the front fastener of the arm. Use a drive socket #19. - Step 22
Install the rear fastener of the control arm. Use a drive socket #19. - Step 23
Connect the lower arm to the steering knuckle. - Step 24
Treat the fasteners of the ball joint. Use copper grease. - Step 25
Screw the fasteners of the ball joint. Use a combination spanner #22.
