Replacement: front lower arm – CITROËN C4 Picasso I (UD_). AUTODOC recommends:

The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: front lower arm – CITROËN C4 Picasso I (UD_). Recommended sequence of steps:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 3

Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.

Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

Replacement: front lower arm – CITROËN C4 Picasso I (UD_). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6

Clean the CV axle nut cotter pin. Use a wire brush.
Step 7

Remove the CV axle nut cotter pin. Use a pin punch.
Step 8

Clean the fastener of the driveshaft. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 9

Loosen the fastener of the driveshaft. Use a drive socket #36. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 10

Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 11

Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the suspension control arm. Use a drive socket #21. Use a tap wrench.
Step 12

Disconnect the spherical joint from the arm. Use a ball joint puller.
Step 13

Prop up the steering knuckle. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 14

Disconnect the spherical joint from the arm. Use a crowbar.
Step 15

Remove the support from under the steering knuckle.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: front lower arm – CITROËN C4 Picasso I (UD_). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 16

Detach the driveshaft from the steering knuckle.

Replacement: front lower arm – CITROËN C4 Picasso I (UD_). Tip from AUTODOC:
Make sure that the drive shaft is not unloaded (when the car is jacked).
Step 17

Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use Torx T50. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 18

Remove the front fastener of the control arm. Use a pin punch. Use a hammer.
Step 19

Unscrew the rear fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use Torx T50. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 20

Remove the rear fastener of the control arm.
Step 21

Remove the arm. Use a crowbar.
Step 22

Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 23

Install a new arm.

Replacement: front lower arm – CITROËN C4 Picasso I (UD_). Professionals recommend:
During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover.
Step 24

Install the control arm fasteners.
Step 25

Screw the front arm fastener. Use Torx T50. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 26

Screw the rear arm fastener. Use Torx T50. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 27

Tighten the front fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a drive socket #21. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 111 Nm torque.
Step 28

Tighten the rear fastener connecting the arm to the body subframe. Use a drive socket #21. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 111 Nm torque.
Step 29

Clean the splines of the drive shaft CV joint. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 30

Install the drive shaft.
Step 31

Unscrew the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 32

Prop up the steering knuckle. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.

Step 33

Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 34

Disconnect the steering knuckle from the shock absorber strut.
Step 35

Attach the ball joint to the control arm.
Step 36

Remove the support from under the steering knuckle.

Replacement: front lower arm – CITROËN C4 Picasso I (UD_). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms.
Step 37

Fix the shock absorber strut on the steering knuckle.
Step 38

Install the fastening bolts.
Step 39

Screw in the fastener that connects the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 40

Tighten the lower fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 90 Nm torque.
Step 41

Tighten the drive shaft nut. Use a drive socket #36. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 280 Nm torque.
Step 42

Install the CV axle nut cotter pin. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer.
Step 43

Screw the fasteners of the ball joint. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 44

Tighten the ball joint fastener. Use a drive socket #21. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 50 nm torque.
Step 45

Treat all joints of the arm. Treat the shock strut fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 46

Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush.
Step 47

Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 48

Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: front lower arm – CITROËN C4 Picasso I (UD_). After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 49

Install the wheel.

Replacement: front lower arm – CITROËN C4 Picasso I (UD_). Tip:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fastening bolts.
Step 50

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 51

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 100 Nm torque.
Step 52

Remove the jacks and chocks.
