- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: front lower arm – AUDI A5 Sportback (8TA). AUTODOC recommends:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts. - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 7
Unscrew the end fastening nut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #21. - Step 8
Disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint puller. - Step 9
Unscrew the fastening bolt that connects the shock absorber fork with the lower control arm. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 10
Remove the fastening bolt. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 11
Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use XZN #12. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 12
Remove the fastening bolt. Use a pin punch. Use a rubber mallet. - Step 13
Disconnect the lower arm from the steering knuckle. Use a crowbar. - Step 14
Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 15
Remove the fastening bolt. - Step 16Release the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a special drive socket to remove the shock absorber. Use a ratchet wrench.Step 17
Remove the arm. - Step 18
Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 19
Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the suspension control arm. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 20
Disconnect the spherical joint from the arm. Use a ball joint puller. - Step 21Attach the ball joint to the control arm.Step 22
Screw the fasteners of the ball joint. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 23
Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 24
Install a new arm. Use a rubber mallet. Use a special drive socket to remove the shock absorber. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 25
Install the fastening bolt. - Step 26
Screw the front arm fastener. Use XZN #12. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 27
Connect the lower arm to the steering knuckle. - Step 28
Install the fastening bolt.
