Replacement: front lower arm – ABARTH PUNTO (199_). AUTODOC recommends:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: front lower arm – ABARTH PUNTO (199_). Take the following steps:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. ABARTH PUNTO (199_)
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Replacement: front lower arm – ABARTH PUNTO (199_). Tip:After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.Wear protective goggles.
- Step 7Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 8Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 9Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use a drive socket #E18. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 10Unscrew the rear fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #E18. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 11Remove the fastening bolts. Use a drive socket #E18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 12Release the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
- Step 13Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle.
- Step 14Remove the arm.
- Step 15Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 16Install a new arm.Replacement: front lower arm – ABARTH PUNTO (199_). AUTODOC experts recommend:During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover.
- Step 17Install the fastening bolts. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #E18. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 18Screw the rear fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #E18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 19Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 20Connect the ball joint to the steering knuckle.
