Replacement: brake discs – NISSAN INTERSTAR Platform/Chassis. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
- Replace the brake discs and pads in axle sets, regardless of their condition. This will ensure even braking.
- The procedure for replacing the brake discs and pads is identical for both sides of the same axle.
- All the work should be carried out with the ignition switched off.
Replacement: brake discs – NISSAN INTERSTAR Platform/Chassis. Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.Step 2
Loosen the brake fluid reservoir cap. - Step 3
If you are going to use a jack, secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 4
Loosen the wheel fasteners. Use a 24 mm wheel impact socket. Use a tommy bar. - Step 5Raise the car.Replacement: brake discs – NISSAN INTERSTAR Platform/Chassis. Tip:If you are using a jack, make sure the car is parked on a hard, flat surface.Make sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.Step 6
Unscrew the wheel fasteners.Caution!To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the fasteners. - Step 7
Remove the wheel. - Step 8
Spread the brake pads apart. Use a mounting lever. - Step 9
Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 10
Unscrew the lower brake caliper fastener. Use an 13 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 11
Unscrew the upper brake caliper fastener. Use an 17 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 12
Remove the fastening bolts. - Step 13
Remove the brake caliper.AUTODOC recommendation:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting it from the brake hose to avoid opening the brake line.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging from the brake hose.Do not press the brake pedal after the caliper has been removed. This may cause the piston to fall out of the caliper bore resulting in the brake fluid leakage and air entering the system. - Step 14
Remove the brake pads. - Step 15
Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 16
Unscrew the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use an 18 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 17
Remove the fastening bolts. - Step 18
Remove the brake caliper bracket. - Step 19
Clean the brake disc screw. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 20
Unscrew the brake disc screw. Use a T40 Torx bit. Use a ratchet screwdriver. - Step 21
Remove the screw. - Step 22
Remove the brake disc. - Step 23
Clean the wheel hub surface that is in contact with the brake disc. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 24
Treat the wheel hub surface that is in contact with the brake disc. Use ceramic grease. - Step 25
Install a new brake disc. - Step 26
Install the brake disc screw. - Step 27
Tighten the brake disc screw. Use a T40 Torx bit. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 14 N·m. - Step 28
Clean the brake caliper bracket and check its condition. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.Replacement: brake discs – NISSAN INTERSTAR Platform/Chassis. AUTODOC experts recommend:Check the brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace them if necessary. - Step 29
Install the brake caliper bracket. - Step 30
Install the fastening bolts.
