How to change front brake discs / front brake rotors on ABARTH 500 (312) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: brake discs – Abarth 595. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- Replace the brake disks on the car Abarth 595 in complete set for each axis. Regardless of the state of components. This will ensure even braking.
- The replacement procedure is identical for both brake disks on the same axle.
- When changing the brake discs, always replace the brake pads.
- Please note: all work on the car – Abarth 595 – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the bonnet. Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.
- Step 2Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 3Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
- Step 4Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
- Step 5Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: brake discs – Abarth 595. Tip:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 6Remove the wheel.
- Step 7Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
- Step 8Disconnect the ABS sensor electric socket. Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor plug. Remove the ABS sensor connector. Remove the connector of the brake pad wear sensor.Please note!Some cars are not equipped with the brake pad wear sensor.
- Step 9Release the ABS sensor cable from the holder on the brake caliper.
- Step 10Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 11Remove the brake caliper.Replacement: brake discs – Abarth 595. Tip from AUTODOC experts:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.
- Step 12Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use a drive socket #19. Use a tap wrench. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 13Remove the brake caliper bracket together with the brake pads.
- Step 14Remove the brake disc.
- Step 15Clean the hub. Use a wire brush. Treat the contacting surface. Use copper grease.
- Step 16Remove anti-corrosion grease from the new brake disk.Step 17Install the brake disc.
- Step 18Install the brake caliper braket together with the brake pads.
- Step 19Tighten the brake caliper bracket. Use a drive socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 95 Nm torque.
