Replacement: anti roll bar links – MERCEDES-BENZ CLS (C219). AUTODOC recommends:
- Replace the stabiliser links on MERCEDES-BENZ CLS (C219) in pairs.
- The replacement procedure is identical for both stabiliser links on the same axle.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: anti roll bar links – MERCEDES-BENZ CLS (C219). Use the following procedure:
- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. MERCEDES-BENZ CLS (C219) - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6Clean the fastening bolt that connects the shock absorber fork with the lower control arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 7
Unscrew the fastening bolt that connects the shock absorber fork with the lower control arm. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #22. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 8Remove the fastening bolt.Step 9
Detach the bottom part of the shock strut. - Step 10
Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 11
Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the control arm. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 12Take out the stabiliser link fastener. Use a crowbar.Step 13
Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the stabilizer bar. Use a drive socket #21. Use a tap wrench. - Step 14Remove the fastening bolt.Step 15
Remove the stabilizer rod. - Step 16
Clean the mounting seats of the stabiliser link. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 17
Ιnstall the transverse stabilizer link. - Step 18Install the fastening bolt.Step 19
Install the rod fastening to the stabilizer and tighten it. Use a crowbar. Use a drive socket #21. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 130 Nm torque. - Step 20
Tighten the stabiliser link fastener. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.
