- Replace the stabiliser links on MERCEDES-BENZ CLS (C218) in pairs.
- The replacement procedure is identical for both stabiliser links on the same axle.
- Please note: all work on the car – MERCEDES-BENZ CLS (C218) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 3Raise the car.Replacement: anti roll bar links – MERCEDES-BENZ CLS (C218). AUTODOC experts recommend:If you are using a jack, make sure it rests on a flat surface without any unevenness.Be sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. MERCEDES-BENZ CLS (C218) - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 7
Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the control arm. Use a drive socket #13. Use Torx E12. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 8
Remove the fastening bolt. - Step 9
Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the stabilizer bar. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a combination spanner #22. - Step 10
Remove the stabilizer rod.AUTODOC recommends:Examine stabiliser bushes. Replace them if needed. - Step 11
Clean the mounting seats of the stabiliser link. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 12
Ιnstall the transverse stabilizer link. - Step 13
Support the rear knuckle. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.Replacement: anti roll bar links – MERCEDES-BENZ CLS (C218). AUTODOC recommends:For tightening the fasteners correctly, you have to jack up the suspension components to their working position. - Step 14
Install the fastening bolt.
