Wire brush
All-purpose cleaning spray
Torque wrench
Torx bit E10
Ratchet wrench
Clip removal tool
Clic-R collar pliers
Seal scraper
Funnel
Fluid container
Fender cover
Replacement: engine thermostat – OPEL VECTRA B (36_). AUTODOC recommends:
- Check the condition of the coolant every time you replace the thermostat. Change the coolant if necessary.
- Please note: all work on the car – OPEL VECTRA B (36_) – should be done with the engine switched off.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3
Unscrew the coolant reservoir cap. - Step 4Raise the car.Replacement: engine thermostat – OPEL VECTRA B (36_). Professionals recommend:If you are using a jack, make sure it rests on a flat surface without any unevenness.Be sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.Step 5
Clean the lower coolant pipe mounting seat. Use all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 6
Prepare a container for fluids. - Step 7
Loosen the coolant hose clamp. Use clic-R collar pliers. - Step 8
Detach the coolant hose.Replacement: engine thermostat – OPEL VECTRA B (36_). AUTODOC experts recommend:Caution! Coolant may leak out of the coolant lines and thermostat housing. - Step 9
Drain the coolant from the engine.Replacement: engine thermostat – OPEL VECTRA B (36_). Tip:Wear gloves to prevent contact with hot liquid. - Step 10
Attach the coolant hose. - Step 11
Secure the coolant hose clamp. Use clic-R collar pliers. - Step 12Lower the car.Step 13
Remove the clip on the air filter intake hose. Use a clip removal tool. - Step 14
Disconnect the air intake pipe from the air filter housing. - Step 15
Clean the coolant hose connections. Use all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 16
Loosen the clamps of the coolant hoses. Use clic-R collar pliers. - Step 17
Detach the coolant hose.Replacement: engine thermostat – OPEL VECTRA B (36_). AUTODOC recommends:Caution! Coolant may leak out of the coolant lines and thermostat housing. - Step 18
Cover the radiator hose to prevent dirt or foreign objects from entering the system. - Step 19
Clean the thermostat housing. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 20
Unscrew the thermostat housing fasteners. Use Torx E10. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 21
Remove the thermostat housing together with the thermostat. - Step 22
Cover the mounting seat of the thermostat housing with a microfibre cloth to prevent dirt and foreign objects from entering the system. - Step 23
Remove the rubber strip. - Step 24
Clean the mounting seats of the thermostat housing. Use all-purpose cleaning spray. Use a seal scraper. - Step 25
Install the new thermostat housing together with the thermostat.
